Displaying tremendous mental toughness in her first-ever US Open match, Van Der Meer Tennis Academy student Isha Manchala rallied from a 1–3 deficit in the third set and won five consecutive games to defeat Alexandra Malova, 6–2, 3–6, 6–3!
VDM coach Derek Porter said, “I’m really proud of the way Isha competed. She stayed composed, trusted her game, and embraced the moment. Now it’s on to the next.” He will be courtside for her upcoming match against No. 9 seed Polina Skliar in the second round of the US Open Junior Girls’ Singles!
Keep it going, Isha! Everyone at VDM Tennis is cheering you on!
