Academy players age seventeen and up are encouraged to take the Van Der Meer Total TennisUniversity course and join the Professional Tennis Registry or the USPTA. Membership in the PTR and successful completion of this teaching instruction course and certification exam can open doors for players to obtain summer jobs and internships. The Total TennisUniversity course is offered several times throughout the year at Van Der Meer Tennis Center on Hilton Head Island, SC.

Total TennisUniversity has launched the careers of many of the World’s best tennis coaches. It’s based on Dennis Van der Meer’s life work of finding the simplest way to teach the basics of tennis strokes using biomechanically sound technique; learning through progressions based on commonalities found and recognized by sports scientists. Dennis received an honorary doctorate from the University of Greenwich, England for his contributions in this field.

This amazing course is also open to parents and players who just want to get a better understanding of the basics, including strategy and self-coaching. They often improve their own games in the process.
